Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Matrixorganisation entstand aus einem Dilemma: Es galt begrenzte Ressourcen an mehreren Stellen einer Organisation zugleich verfügbar zu machen. Insofern schien es zunächst eine zwar nicht einfache, aber doch noch simple organisatorisch-strukturelle Lösung zu sein, deren positive Wirkung sich zunächst auch einstellte. Doch nach ersten Erfolgen zeigen sich bald die Tücken der Matrix, die damals jedoch weniger in der Struktur selbst lagen. Heute gibt es eine Vielzahl von Design-Ansätzen unterschiedlichster Komplexität, die in der Struktur wie den daraus resultierenden Konsequenzen hohe Anforderungen stellen. Einige Design-Aspekte werden hier angesprochen, die ein grundsätzliches Verständnis des Matrix-Designs ermöglichen sollen, das allen Konzepten zugrunde liegt.
