Abstract

Zusammenfassung Im Angesicht des rasanten weltweiten Bevölkerungsanstiegs, dem damit einhergehenden Ressourcenverbrauch und einem rapiden technologischen Wandel stellt die nachhaltige Gestaltung des Wirtschaftssystems eine zentrale Herausforderung des 21. Jahrhunderts dar. Im Jahr 2030 wird die globale Mittelschicht Schätzungen zu folge 5 Mrd. Menschen umfassen, die mit Gütern und Dienstleistungen versorgt werden müssen. Das bisher weltweit gängige lineare Wirtschaftssystem wird die mit diesen Rahmenbedingungen verbundenen Anforderungen in absehbarer Zukunft nicht mehr leisten können.
