Abstract

Zusammenfassung Innerhalb weniger Jahre hat E-Sport, der Wettkampf in Computer- und Videospielen, weltweit, aber auch in Deutschland, den Weg aus der Nische zu einem Massenphänomen zurückgelegt. Damit verbunden sind vielfältige Entwicklungen, die aus gesellschaftlicher, wirtschaftlicher und politischer Perspektive beachtenswert sind. Dieser Beitrag gibt einen Überblick über den Aufstieg des E-Sports. Er zeigt zudem auf, welche politischen Hürden mit Blick auf die weitere E-Sport-Entwicklung in Deutschland noch zu nehmen sind.
