Abstract

Zusammenfassung Unter dem Eindruck der Proteste gegen die Novellierung der Polizeigesetze in mehreren Bundesländern und vielen anderen Auseinandersetzungen um den Einsatz digitaler Technologien bei der Polizei stellt sich die Frage, wie repräsentativ diese Konflikte für das Akzeptanzniveau der Bevölkerung gegenüber der Digitalisierung der Polizei insgesamt wirklich sind. Eine repräsentative Bevölkerungsumfrage zeigt, dass die Bürgerinnen und Bürger sich in Realität in hohem Maße die Digitalisierung der Polizei wünschen. Es ergibt sich sogar das Bild, dass eine Erwartung digitaler Fähigkeiten der Polizei in der Bevölkerung existiert, die aktuell aus zahlreichen Gründen nicht erfüllt werden kann. Tempo bei der Digitalisierung scheint geboten, damit die Erwartungslücke nicht weiterwächst und das hohe Vertrauen der Bevölkerung in die Polizei untergräbt. Ein klarer Handlungsauftrag.
