Abstract

Zusammenfassung Distanzelektroimpulsgeräte (DEIG) werden in vielen Staaten bei Polizeieinheiten eingesetzt. In Deutschland werden die Einsatzmittel bislang überwiegend bei Spezialeinheiten vorgehalten. Im internationalen Vergleich ist die Ausstattung für Einheiten auch außerhalb der Spezialkräfte recht weit verbreitet. Hierzulande untersuchen viele Bundesländer im Rahmen von Pilotprojekten eine Ausstattung von Kräften außerhalb der Spezialeinheiten- so auch in Nordrhein-Westfalen. Der Beitrag beleuchtet und analysiert den langen Prozess und die politische Kontroverse von der ersten Idee zur Einführung der Distanzelektroimpulsgeräte für operative Einheiten der Alltagsorganisation durch eine polizeiliche Berufsvertretung im Jahr 2010 über die zunächst ablehnende Haltung sowohl der Fachebene des Innenministeriums als auch der Fraktionen im Landtag von Nordrhein-Westfalen bis hin zur Einführung eines Pilotprojekts im Jahr 2021.
