Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die in Deutschland geführte Diskussion um Polizeiwissenschaft und die Frage ihrer Grundlegung als eigenständige Wissenschaftsdisziplin ist seit Jahren kontrovers und bis zum heutigen Tag nicht entschieden. Einen neuen Impuls für den Diskurs stellt die Einbindung der Polizeiwissenschaft in die Verwaltungswissenschaft dar – einen Weg, den die Deutsche Hochschule der Polizei (DHPol) gegangen ist. Es wird der Frage nachgegangen, wie sich das spannungsreiche Verhältnis zwischen polizeilicher Praxis und Wissenschaft in der Entwicklung der DHPol ausgewirkt hat. Im Kern geht es dabei um den Masterstudiengang und das Verständnis von Polizeimanagement. Zu diskutieren ist, ob diese Konzepte als Brücke zwischen den beiden Grundpositionen dienen können. Die DHPol hat einen umfassenden „Strategieprozess“ gestartet, der eine Überprüfung und Neuausrichtung aller ihrer Inhalte zum Ziel hat. Der Aufsatz zeigt die grundsätzlichen Überlegungen auf, die diesem Prozess zugrunde liegen, und skizziert die Entwicklungsschritte, die von der Hochschule bis zum Jahr 2022 abgeschlossen sein sollen.
