Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Polizei als der Garant der Inneren Sicherheit und Träger des Gewaltmonopols ist in besonderem Maße demokratischen und rechtsstaatlichen Grundsätzen verpflichtet. Um diesen Auftrag für das Gemeinwesen sachgerecht zu erfüllen, bedarf es professionell ausgebildeter Beamtinnen und Beamten, die die ihnen übertragenen besonderen Rechte und Pflichten zum Wohle des Gemeinwesens neutral erfüllen. Demokratie und Rechtsstaat sind leider keine Selbstverständlichkeiten. Historisches Wissen geht zunehmend verloren und damit steigt die Gefahr, scheinbare Selbstverständlichkeiten preiszugeben und am Ende zu verlieren. Ziel muss es daher sein, die demokratische Resilienz in der Polizei durch das Erlebbarmachen der Geschichte zu stärken und deren unveränderte Relevanz für heutiges polizeiliches (Führungs-)Handeln zu erkennen.
