Abstract

Zusammenfassung Innerhalb weniger Wochen hat sich das Infektionsgeschehen von Asien über Europa in die USA zu einer globalen Pandemie entwickelt, vor der sich selbst äußerst rigoros agierende Inselstaaten wie Neuseeland und Australien nicht gänzlich zu schützen wussten. Grenzschließungen und massive Restriktionen der Bürger- und Freiheitsrechte haben Handel, Migration sowie das öffentliche und wirtschaftliche Leben vielerorts deutlich eingeschränkt oder zwischenzeitlich sogar zum Erliegen gebracht. Empfindlich getroffen wurde abermals die vom Systemkonflikt gebeutelte Herzkammer der zweiten Globalisierung: die internationalen Wertschöpfungsketten. Unsere Analyse der ökonomischen Wirkungen der Covid-19-Pandemie beschränkt sich auf den ersten Lockdown, indem die direkten Auswirkungen auf die Globalisierung gravierend waren.
