Abstract

Zusammenfassung Aus dem Hauptwerk von Alfred Marshall „Principles of Economics“ werden die Theorie der Produktion (Buch IV) und die Theorie der Wert- oder Preisbildung (Buch V) dargestellt. Der Schwerpunkt in der Produktionstheorie liegt auf der Behandlung von Größenersparnissen der Produktion und dem Konzept der repräsentativen Unternehmung. Im Mittelpunkt der Werttheorie stehen die Periodenanalyse der Wertbildung und der Verlauf der langfristigen Angebotskurve einer Industrie. Der Hauptteil behandelt das Spannungsverhältnis zwischen der statischen Werttheorie und der dynamischen, evolutorischen Produktionstheorie. Dabei wird der Frage nachgegangen, ob und inwieweit für Marshall Gemeinsamkeiten zwischen wirtschaftlicher und biologischer Evolution bestehen.
