Abstract

Zusammenfassung Unter dem Begriff Kognitionswissenschaft untersuchen Disziplinen wie Psychologie, künstliche Intelligenz, Linguistik, Neurowissenschaft und Philosophie, wie sich mentale Repräsentationen im Zuge der Informationsverarbeitung verändern. Aus unterschiedlichen Perspektiven und mit unterschiedlichen methodischen Zugängen werden grundsätzliche Fragen nach dem Zusammenhang zwischen physischer und mentaler Welt erforscht. Ziel ist es, zu erklären, wie eine Wissenschaft des Mentalen (d. h., der Kognition) möglich ist und wie sie begründet werden kann. Zentrale Fragen dabei betreffen die Natur von Repräsentationen (symbolisch vs. subsymbolisch), sowie die Architektur des kognitiven Systems (generell vs. modular).
