Abstract

Zusammenfassung Regionale Akteure sehen sich bei ihren Bemühungen, die Wirtschaft zu stärken, neue Unternehmen anzusiedeln und Existenzgründungen zu unterstützen, vor zahlreiche Herausforderungen gestellt. Auch Hochschulen können einem solchen erweiterten Akteurskreis hinzugerechnet werden – fungieren sie doch als Bindeglied zwischen Wirtschaft und Gesellschaft. Über ihre „Third Mission“, den Transfer von Wissen, Technologien und/oder Personen sind sie direkt an der wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung beteiligt. Eine besonders synergienreiche Variante des Transfers ist die Gründung eines Spin-off durch Hochschulangehörige. Auf den folgenden Seiten wird beleuchtet, wie Spin-offs entstehen können, welche Rolle sie in der Wirtschaft und Regionalentwicklung spielen, und was Hochschulen zur Förderung und Verstetigung einer Gründungskultur beitragen können.
