Abstract

Zusammenfassung „Wir brauchen ein elektronisches Zahlungssystem, das nicht auf Vertrauen, sondern auf einem kryptografischen Nachweis beruht“. Angetrieben von dieser Vision hatte Satoshi Nakamoto am 31. Oktober 2008, 14:10 Uhr Ortszeit in New York, die Idee hinter Bitcoin und der Blockchain Technologie mittels einer Rundmail mit der Welt geteilt. Inzwischen schreiben wir das Jahr 2021, die Identität von Satoshi Nakamoto ist nach wie vor nicht geklärt, Bitcoin erreicht eine Marktkapitalisierung von etwa USD 360 Mrd. (Kurs von USD 19.300) und die darunterliegende Blockchain Technologie findet längst Einzug in Unternehmen zur Neuausrichtung von Geschäftsmodellen oder der Finanzierung von Innovationen. Im vorliegenden Kapitel wird der Leser beim Ursprung der Idee abgeholt und in die unterschiedlichen Anwendungsmöglichkeiten eingeführt.
