Abstract

Zusammenfassung Viele Menschen glauben, dass der Markt – abgesehen von einigen zugestandenen Vorteilen – ein Bild der Unordnung und des Chaos biete. Nichts sei „geplant“, alles so zufällig. Die meisten Menschen lehnen den Marktmechanismus alleine schon deshalb rein instinktiv ab, weil das menschliche Gehirn ihn nicht abbilden kann. Die dezentrale, unpersönliche Systemintelligenz des freien Marktes ist ihnen nicht geheuer. Staatliche Anweisungen und Bevormundung scheinen hingegen einfach und geordnet und obendrein „sozial“ zu sein. In keinem anderen Bereich der Wirtschaft ist dieser Aberglaube weiter verbreitet als im Bereich des Geldes. Scheinbar muss auf jeden Fall das Geldwesen unter schärfste staatliche Kontrolle gestellt werden. Im Gegensatz zur allgemein herrschenden Meinung wäre ein freier Markt für Geld alles andere als chaotisch.
