Sezessionen im Sport

Abstract

Zusammenfassung Sezessionen im Sport finden sowohl politisch-territorial als auch organisatorisch-ökonomisch statt. Im ersten Fall werden nach einer territorialen Abspaltung auch die jeweiligen Sportverbände getrennt. Im zweiten spalten sich Verbände oder Ligen aus ökonomischen Gründen, z. B. um die Vermarktungschancen zu erhöhen, voneinander ab. Dieser Beitrag beleuchtet beide Fälle und diskutiert insbesondere Rival Leagues und Breakaway Leagues als Formen organisatorisch-ökonomischer Abspaltungen. Dabei werden Chancen und Risiken von erfolgten (z. B. die Premier League) und geplanten (z. B. die European Super League) Sezessionsvorhaben sportökonomisch analysiert.
