Abstract

Zusammenfassung Um das „Handlungsprinzip Nachhaltigkeit“ zu verstehen und seine Bedeutung für die Verbraucherwissenschaften einschätzen zu können, gibt der vorliegende Beitrag zunächst einen Überblick über die Geschichte und Genese des Konzepts „Nachhaltige Entwicklung“. Anschließend wird das Konzept vertieft und die Debatte über seine Kernelemente skizziert. Als politisches Handlungskonzept, das sich in konkreten Zielen und Programmen niederschlägt (oder niederschlagen sollte), bedarf es der Messbarkeit und damit der Operationalisierung. Ein weiterer Abschnitt widmet sich daher den Zielen, Indikatoren und dem Monitoring von Nachhaltiger Entwicklung. Abschließend wird gefragt, welche Rolle und welche Themen sich daraus für die Verbraucherwissenschaften ergeben. Dabei wird insbesondere auf die Bedeutung des Nachhaltigen Konsums eingegangen.
