Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der passive Konsum von eSport ist seit jeher durch Online-Portale dominiert, wohingegen sich klassische TV-Formate bisher kaum durchsetzen konnten. In diesem Beitrag wird untersucht, inwieweit Unterschiede zwischen dem passiven Konsum einzelner Titel auf dem Streaming-Portal Twitch und der Berichterstattung in den Online-Auftritten großer Medien wie dem Spiegel und dem Handelsblatt vorliegen. Es zeigt sich, dass zwischen dem passiven Konsum bei Twitch und der Berichterstattung in anderen Medien eine große Diskrepanz in der Form vorliegt, dass beispielsweise der Titel FIFA bei den passiven Konsumenten eine sehr geringe, in der medialen Rezeption aber eine bedeutende Rolle spielt. Weiterhin fällt auf, dass jedes der untersuchten Medien seine eigenen thematischen Schwerpunkte setzt. Eine Diskussion potenzieller Risiken des eSports wird hingegen kaum vorgenommen.
