Abstract

Zusammenfassung Zu den frühesten mathematischen Entdeckungen der heraufdämmernden Neuzeit gehört um 1420 die Zentralperspektive, die von dem Erbauer der Kuppel des Doms von Florenz gefunden wurde, Filippo Brunelleschi. Von nun an wird der Standpunkt des Betrachters in die Darstellung einbezogen. Diese Entdeckung hatte Wirkungen weit über Architektur und Malerei hinaus. Es war die Geburtsstunde eines neuen Zweiges der Geometrie, der Projektiven Geometrie. Wir stellen die Gesetze der perspektivischen Darstellung vor, ihre Entstehung aus der Zentralprojektion, die Albrecht Dürer sehr anschaulich beschrieben hat, und ihre Weiterentwicklung zur Projektiven Geometrie mit den Sätzen von Desargues und Pascal und dem (viel späteren) Begriff des Projektiven Raums.
