Abstract

Zusammenfassung Das letzte Kapitel endete mit der Abschiedsfeier für Hirzebruch im Universitätsclub am 29.10.1995. Es gab danach noch eine zweite Feier, nämlich zur Amtsübergabe an die neuen Direktoren. Zagier schreibt: »Am 31.[10.1995] hat Herr Hirzebruch eine schöne Zeremonie zur offiziellen Amtsübergabe arrangiert, im Laufe derer er mir einen symbolischen ›Reichsapfel‹ in Form eines Ikosaeders aus Kristall überreichte, den ich und meine Nachfolger jeweils am Ende unserer Amtszeiten weiterzureichen haben.«
