Abstract

Zusammenfassung Am 13.8.1961 wurde in Berlin die Mauer gebaut. Es wurde sehr schnell klar, dass damit die fast vollständige Teilung Deutschlands bevorstand, und es war damit zu rechnen, dass auch so unpolitische Organisationen wie die Deutsche Mathematiker-Vereinigung (DMV) davon betroffen sein würden. Die Jahrestagung der DMV fand in jenem Jahr vom 18. bis 24.9.1961 in Halle in der DDR statt. Es war einige Zeit unklar, ob die Tagung überhaupt abgehalten werden könnte, was viele Westdeutsche zur Absage ihrer Teilnahme veranlasste. Westberliner erhielten schon zu diesem frühen Zeitpunkt keine Einreiseerlaubnis in die DDR mehr. Die Tagung endete mit einem Busausflug in den Harz. Zurück in Halle gingen die Teilnehmer gedrückter Stimmung auseinander, wie sich ein Teilnehmer erinnert.
