Abstract

Zusammenfassung Es überrascht nicht, dass Managed Care bei den Ärzten und den Versicherten/Patienten auf Kritik stößt. Das traditionelle System überzeugt eben vor allem durch die Großzügigkeit der zur Verfügung stehenden Mittel und die gewährte Wahlfreiheit und Entscheidungsautonomie. Die Befürchtungen der Ärzte und Patienten bezüglich der Qualitätsverschlechterung halten jedoch einer empirischen Überprüfung nicht stand. Insgesamt gesehen weist Managed Care keine schlechtere Versorgungsqualität auf. Andererseits haben sich aber auch die Erwartungen an eine qualitativ bessere Versorgung durch Instrumente wie das Disease Management, das Qualitätsmanagement oder die Orientierung an Guidelines bislang nicht vollumfänglich bestätigt. Wobei neuere Evaluationen zu den Disease-Management-Programmen in Deutschland vielversprechende Ergebnisse zeigen (van Lente, 2011).
