Abstract

Zusammenfassung In vielen Bereichen des täglichen Lebens stehen verschiedene Möglichkeiten zur Wahl, und man möchte auf faireWeise „den Besten“ bzw. „die Beste“ auswählen. Das fängt im Kleinen an (soll der Familienausflug in den Zoo, ins Schwimmbad oder in den Zirkus gehen?) und setzt sich bis in die hohe Politik fort (wie setzt man den Wählerwillen in die Anzahl der Sitze im Bundestag um?). Es wird viele überraschen zu erfahren, dass das ein äußerst komplexes Problem ohne eine in allen Aspekten befriedigende Lösung ist und dass – überwiegend elementare – Mathematik eine wichtige Rolle spielt. Nachstehend findet man einige Informationen zu den damit zusammenhängenden Fragestellungen.
