Abstract

Zusammenfassung Das Malefizspiel ist ein Klassiker aus den sechziger Jahren. Erfunden hatte es der Bäckerei-Angestellte und spätere System-Analytiker Werner Schöppner. Vorbild war vermutlich das indische Nationalspiel Pachisi. Der Titel soll auf einen Ausruf der Ehefrau des Verlegers Otto Maier beim Probespielen zurückgehen: „Du bist doch ein echter Malefiz!‟, wobei Malefiz ein fast vergessenes Wort für eine schlechte Tat ist. Was heute nicht mehr so leicht möglich wäre: Das Spiel schockierte bei seinem Erscheinen 1960 aufgrund der Spielgestaltung mit dem legendären Quartett merkwürdiger Gestalten, traf aber den Nerv der Zeit: Mehr als fünf Millionen Exemplare wurden nach Verlagsangaben verkauft.
