Abstract

Zusammenfassung Was wir nun brauchen, ist eine Freigeld‐Bewegung, die der Freihandels‐Bewegung des 19. Jahrhunderts vergleichbar ist (Friedrich August von Hayek, 1976). Die Keynesianer sind der Meinung, dass marktwirtschaftliche Systeme trotz des geltenden Preisregelungsmechanismus immer wieder versagen können und es dann ordnungspolitischer Eingriffe durch den Staat bedarf, wobei die Geldmenge neben dem Fiskalsystem ein wichtiges und mächtiges Instrument der Ordnungspolitik ist (siehe auch Kap. 5). Die Theorien von Keynes haben vor allem nach der durch die Finanzkrise 2008 hervorgerufenen Unsicherheit über die tatsächliche Funktionsfähigkeit des Bankensystems und der Geldpolitik wieder an Bedeutung gewonnen. Nicht nur sozialdemokratische Regierungen, die stets mit Keynes’ Gedanken sympathisieren, sondern auch wirtschaftsliberale Regierungen greifen seit der Finanzkrise 2008 aktiv in die Geldpolitik ein. Die exzessive Geldproduktion der Quantitativen Lockerung (quantitative easing) der Europäischen Zentralbank aber auch der US Federal Reserve, die versucht, den Zusammenbruch des Banken‐ und Finanzsystems durch die massive Erhöhung der Geldmenge aufzuhalten, sind dafür gute Beispiele.
