Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Beitrag fragt nach dem Vehältnis von mathematischem Wissen, Handeln und Tätigkeiten, die mathematischen Bildungs- und Unterrichtsprozesse auszeichnen zu mathematischen Kompetenzen, die am Ende der Schulzeit als Bildungsprodukte verfügbar sein sollen. Am Beispiel des „mathematischen Modellierens“ wird exemplarisch herausgearbeitet, dass vor dem Hintergrund verschiedener bildungstheoretischer Konzeptionen die Bedeutung mathematischer Handlungen für den Bildungsprozess nur unzureichend erfasst wird, wenn man sich auf die Frage nach den am Ende dieses Bildungsprozesses verfügbaren Kompetenzen im Sinne von Handlungswissen und Problembewältigungsfähigkeiten beschränkt.
