Abstract

Zusammenfassung Techno- und Wirtschaftsmathematiker bezeichnen heute Mathematik als Schlüsseltechnologie. Mathematik kann eine Brücke bilden zwischen theoretischen (Natur) Wissenschaften und konkreten praktischen (technischen, wirtschaftlichen, medizinischen u. a.) Gebieten. Im Zentrum dieses Verflechtungsprozesses steht das mathematische Modellieren von Problemen, wobei sich das Herangehen an das Lösen von Problemen nicht prinzipiell vom Vorgehen zu Beginn des 20. Jahrhunderts unterscheidet. An Beispielen aus Forschungslaboratorien der 1903 etablierten Telefunken Gesellschaft für drahtlose Telegraphie und der 1919 gegründeten Osram GmbH soll gezeigt werden, wie mathematisches Wissen genutzt und produziert wurde. Die Ergebnisse basieren auf einem von der DFG geförderten Projekt „Die Anfänge von Technomathematik in der elektrotechnischen Industrie“ und sind größtenteils bereits publiziert (Tobies 2010 und Tobies 2012).
