Abstract

Zusammenfassung Unternehmensführung mittels Kennzahlen – das ist klassischerweise das Credo des Controllings. Natürlich sind Zahlen ein essentielles Element des Managements, ohne dies hätte das Controlling gar keine Existenzberechtigung. Gleichwohl sind Kennzahlen nicht alles. Wer nur auf Statistiken und Reports achtet, für den besteht im Gegenteil die Gefahr, wichtige Aspekte zu übersehen. Ein guter Fußballtrainer wird heute vielleicht Statistiken über gewonnene Zweikämpfe, Ballbesitz und dergleichen beachten, aber er wird nie nur darauf bauen. Analog im Unternehmen. Auf die Mischung kommt es an. Wann sind Entscheidungen konsequent auf Basis der Controlling-Zahlen zu treffen, wann sollte der Manager hingegen auch auf seine Intuition hören? Hier das richtige Gespür zu haben, macht den guten Manager aus. Und es macht jenseits der Fachkenntnisse einen Spitzencontroller aus, zu erkennen, wann seine Kennzahlensysteme an Grenzen stoßen und wann nicht.
