Abstract

Résumé En 1951 paraissait aux Annals of Mathematics un article intitulé «A contribution to differential geometry in the large», sous la signature de H. E. Rauch. Un texte de dix-huit pages et au titre modeste. Ce n’était pas le premier travail de l’auteur, qui avait fait auparavant un PhD intitulé «Generalizations of some classical theorems to the case of functions of several variables» sous la direction de Salomon Bochner (Princeton 1947).
