Abstract

2D X-Ray computerized tomography is a standard technique both in medical imaging and in nondestructive testing. One of the drawbacks in a series of 2D measurements is that the resolution perpendicular to the image planes is much inferior to the resolution in the image planes. Especially for finding flaws in welded joints this is not acceptable. In this paper a 3D scanning scheme is described, a reconstruction algorithm enhancing discontinouities is presented and resolution and stability problems are addressed. Reconstructions from real data, especially from a laser welded steal tube and a piece of a lamb bone, are included.
