Abstract

Zusammenfassung In Kap. IV, § 10, haben uns die Variationsprinzipien der Physik zu typischen Randwert- bzw. Anfangswertproblemen für Gleichgewichtsund Bewegungsvorgänge kontinuierlich ausgebreiteter physikalischer Systeme geführt. Die im einzelnen dort aufgestellten Probleme tragen sämtlich linearen Charakter. In den Rahmen systematischer Vollständigkeit werden wir die Behandlung dieser Probleme erst später in Band II bei der allgemeinen Theorie der partiellen Differentialgleichungen einordnen. Jedoch wollen wir in diesem und im nächsten Kapitel eine Reihe der wichtigsten Züge aus der Theorie linearer Differentialgleichungsprobleme darstellen, insbesondere soweit sie sich auf Schwingungsvorgänge beziehen. Dabei wird die Methode der Eigenfunktionen im Mittelpunkt der Betrachtung stehen.
