Abstract

Zusammenfassung Den höchsten Rang in der Ständeordnung des Landes hatten lange Zeit die Amtsinhaber und ihre Familien eingenommen. Ihre Söhne fuhren nach Kopenhagen, machten eine Ausbildung und führten zusammen mit ihren dänischen Amtsbrüdern die Vorherrschaft des Standes fort. Seit 1660, als der Reichsadel seine Macht verlor und der Absolutismus und die Gleichstellung in der Union Dänemark-Norwegen mit vier Bistümern und den jeweiligen Unterbistümern proklamiert wurde, war Norwegen von Beamten regiert worden: 40 Amtmänner, 50 Amtsrichter, 450 Pfarrer und rund 800 Offiziere. Verwaltung und Leitung des Landes lagen in den Händen von weniger als 1.500 Beamten.
