Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die ‚Gesellschaft für das Wohl Norwegens ‘hatte von Beginn an gewaltigen Zulauf. Im ersten Jahr hatte die Gesellschaft über 1500 Mitglieder, von denen jedes einen Jahresbeitrag von 10 Reichstalern zahlte. Außerdem beteiligten sich viele mit privaten Zuwendungen, sodass die Einnahmen für 1810 mit 23.000 Reichstalern angegeben wurden. Die Mitglieder verteilten sich über das ganze Land, wobei die meisten aus dem östlichen und südlichen Norwegen stammten und der relativ hohe Beitrag die Mitgliederzahl beschränkte. Doch die überall im Lande eingerichteten Distriktskommissionen arbeiteten für örtliche Ableger der Gesellschaft, der Budstikken nannte ständig neue Untergruppen, sodass es nach einem Jahr mehr als 30 über das Land verteilte, so genannte ‚Pfarrgesellschaften‘ gab.
