Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Herbst des Jahres 1868 scheint für Lie eine einzige kontinuierliche Arbeitsphase gewesen zu sein. Neben Poncelet inspirierten ihn vor allem Pluckers Bucher - jedenfalls fand er bei diesen beiden zuerst einen Begriffsapparat, eine mathematische Sprache, die er für seine eigenen Ideen verwenden konnte. Aber außer diesen beiden Mathematikern orientierte er sich auch an den Werken von Carnot, Hamilton, Cremona, Möbius, Hunyadi, Townsend, Grassmann, Salmon und anderen und entlieh diverse Jahresausgaben der fUhrenden mathematischen Zeitschriften Crelles Journal aus Berlin, Liouvilles Journal und Comptes Rendus aus Paris, sowie Philosophical Transactions, die in London erschien.
