Abstract

The subject the present work is the study of the two-phase model, proposed by Baer and Nunziato [2], and modified by Saurel and Abgrall [8]. In what follows, the first model will be referred to as the BN-model, and the second one to as the SA-model. The BN-model describes the deflagration-to-detonation transition (DDT) in high-energy explosives. The modification of Saurel and Abgrall [8] concerns the interface and the relaxation terms. Due to these modifications, the model is able to describe a wide range of applications, e.g. the calculation of the shock waves in solid mixtures, cavitaion in fluids, and interface resolution.
