Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Praxis der linearen Gleichungen hat bekanntlich eine besondere Befruchtung durch die Anwendung umfangreicher linearer Gleichungssysteme in der Ausgleichsrechnung erfahren, und zwar in erster Linie durch den Begründer dieser Rechnungsmethode, durch Gauss. Daß diese vornehmlich mit linearen Operationen arbeitende Methode mit großem Vorteil auch von der Matrizensymbolik Gebrauch machen kann, liegt auf der Hand. Wir setzen im folgenden eine gewisse Bekanntschaft mit der Ausgleichsrechnung voraus1, wollen jedoch für den weniger geübten Leser das Wesentliche der Methode kurz zusammenstellen.
