Le groupe des types simples d’homotopie sur un polyèdre

Abstract

Résumé La notion d’équivalence d’homotopie simple entre deux polyèdres compacts permet de diviser les polyèdres compacts en classes dites «types simples d’homotopie». Si X est un polyèdre compact connexe, on sait que les types simples d’homotopie des polyèdres homotopiquement équivalents à X sont en correspondance bi-univoque avec les éléments d’un certain groupe Abélien rattaché à X, le groupe de White- head; ce dernier se définit de façon purement algébrique à partir du groupe fondamental π1 X. Il est ainsi possible de munir d’une structure de groupe Abélien l’ensemble E(X) des types simples d’homotopie des polyèdres compacts homotopiquement équivalents à X.
