Abstract

The need to improve customer satisfaction, operational effectiveness and asset utilization has made effective Operations Management a growing priority for manufacturing organizations. While significant research has been carried out in production process optimization, limited work has been carried out to incorporate business process, culture and manufacture subject matter for improvement. This paper presents the findings of an investigation into the process of production and business within Strong Bond CO., ltd. in Chinese manufacturing industry. Interviews were conducted with experts across manufacturing and multidisciplinary consultancies, the outputs of which were analyzed using general judgment and weight analysis. From this, 21 themes of barriers across three core categories classed as business process, culture and subject matter emerged. The findings ranked by the consequence and remove difficulty show six top barriers. Therefore, some effective countermeasures and proposals for operations management have been made for customer satisfaction and product improvement.
