Abstract

What on earth do slippery ice and the slicing of bread have in common? That’s the question.We can even top that question and talk about a drill bit seizing up. All three problems can be solved with the same mathematical methods. That’s amazing! That’s exactly why mathematics is so thrilling. We’ll first describe the tasks and then set about finding a solution.
