Abstract

The Baby Boom generation – the largest in US history – grew up with mass media, and is by far the largest constituency for newspapers, television, and magazines. But, as audiences age and fragment, the economic foundation of these traditional media is challenged. The pain is especially sharp in the newspaper industry, giving rise to worries about the future of American journalism.
