Abstract

Julia a réclamé la priorité sur l'itération et l'a obtenue, Fatou est mort,sans savoir qu'il aurait peut-être enfin été reconnu à hauteur de sa valeur scientifique, les mathématiciens allemands ont, tant bien que mal, été réintégrés dans la communauté scientifique internationale, Julia, puis Montel, ont été élus académiciens des sciences, la science allemande a été décimée (ce que nous avons aperçu ici à travers le suicide de Hausdorff et le départ de Siegel pour les États-Unis, où il publie l'article [Siegel 1942] mentionné ci-dessus),prélude au déclenchement d'une nouvelle guerre qui a éprouvé et divisé les mathématiciens français comme elle a éprouvé et divisé la population. Après la Libération, la communauté s'est reformée, n'oubliant pas ses antagonismes,mais n'en parlant plus, de sorte qu'ils sont aujourd'hui ignorés. Cette communauté n'est pourtant pas, n'a pourtant jamais été monolithique.
