Abstract

Le mémoire de Julia est publié, mais pas immédiatement nous allons le voir, comme l'article [1918f] dans ce qui est encore le Journal « de Jordan1 ».Le mémoire de Samuel Lattès n'a jamais été publié, pourtant, d'après [Buhl 1921, p. 13], il devait être publié aux Annales de l'École normale supérieure en 1921 ou 1922 « grâce aux soins de M. Émile Picard » (il semble que l'on ne sache d'ailleurs pas ce qu'est devenu le manuscrit2). Pincherle a publié ses exemples. Pierre Fatou a partagé son mémoire en trois parties, les trois premiers chapitres [1919b], les quatrième et cinquième [1920a], puis les derniers [Fatou 1920b].La publication du mémoire couronné3, de travaux auxquels l'Académie des sciences a décerné aussi, dans [Humbert 1917], une sorte de certificat de priorité,va de soi. La publication des trois cents pages de Fatou, simultanée avec (ou suivant immédiatement) celle du mémoire de Julia, prouve une fois encore, non seulement la qualité de ses résultats, mais aussi l'estime dans laquelle ses collègues mathématiciens tenaient son travail : après tout, beaucoup des résultats présentés dans [Fatou 1919b ; 1920a ; b] avaient déjà été estampillés comme « théorèmes de Julia ».
