Abstract

Auszug Mit einem Mikroskop sehen wir einer Amöbe zu, wie sie sich in ihrer praktisch zweidimensionalen Welt in dem engen Bereich zwischen Objektträger und Deckglas bewegt. Wir beobachten von oben, wie die Amöbe anderen ähnlichen Lebewesen begegnet, Nahrung aufnimmt und Feinden ausweicht. Ein Teil der Zellmembran bildet eine Außenlinie, die die Amöbe völlig umrandet und ihren Kern im Inneren vor der Bedrohung durch andere Lebewesen auf dem Objektträger bewahrt. Die Begriffe Inneres und umranden bedeuten für uns im dreidimensionalen Raum jedoch nicht das gleiche wie für die Bewohner dieses nahezu flachen Raumes. Keine Amöbe dieses Raumes kann je in direkten Kontakt mit dem Kern einer anderen kommen. Wir aber können aus einer anderen Richtung herabschauen und genau ins Innere des Organismus blicken.
