Abstract

Sediment transport is one of the main process that should be considered in studying “natural” rivers. Even if sediment load is low, exchanges are always occurring between banks, bottom and the water flow. This process is at the origin of the morphology of the rivers and may generate huge consequences on human activities and environment. Most part of the sediment transport occurs during high flows. Flood events and thus unsteady flows should be modelled in a detailed way to assess the main morphological changes.
