Abstract

In this paper, we checkpointing remote-sensing image processing (RSIP) applications in computational grid using a novel application-level uncoordinated checkpoint protocol based on Job Progress Description (JPD). The JPD of a job is composed by a Job Progress Record Object (JPRO) and a group of Job Progress State Objects (JPSO), these two kinds of objects act as checkpoint data for the job and the methods of them can be used as checkpoint APIs. Both the applications and the computing resources participate in the ChinaGrid project. Experiments show that using such checkpoint protocol, the RSIP Applications can be more robust when resource failure occurs.
