Abstract

The file sharing application is one mainstream application of P2P technology, in which users can share files in their local hard disc. There are many research projects devoting to solve the problems of current file sharing applications from different angles, such as Gnutella[G01], NeuroGrid[JH02] and so on. In this paper we propose a novel searching architecture for sharing documents-SmartMiner. The storage and search of raw documents are based on DHT network, but the storage and search of meta-data are based on unstructured P2P network in SmartMiner. SmartMiner combines the deterministic searching capacity of DHT network and the fuzzy searching capacity of unstructured P2P network. It implements the intelligent query forwarding based on the overlay network of file relation to discovery adequately the relations between the users and files. It also considers the trust metrics of nodes and implements the efficient ranking of searching results.
