Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Statistik stellt ein Instrumentarium bereit, um Informationen über die Realität oder Wirklichkeit verfügbar zu machen. Statistische Methoden haben sowohl in den empirischen Wissenschaften als auch in der Praxis bei der Gewinnung und Verarbeitung von Informationen eine herausragende Stellung erlangt. Die Verbreitung des Computers hat inzwischen die Anwendung komplexer statistischer Verfahren ermöglicht. Die technologischen Möglichkeiten können allerdings auch zu Anwendungen statistischer Methoden verführen, die inhaltlich nicht hinreichend gestützt zu sein brauchen. Wenn die Interpretation einer Datenauswertung oder -analyse unzulänglich bleibt, sind die bereitgestellten Informationen von zweifelhaftem Nutzen.
