Abstract

Zusammenfassung Gleich zu Beginn möchte ich erläutern, was ich unter dem Begriff „Multimedia-Zivilisation“ verstehe. Ich verwende ihn in zwei Bedeutungen. Zunächst ist er einfach ein Synonym für das Jahr 1998 und etwa die nächste Dekade. Und dann steht er für den weitverbreiteten — und immer noch zunehmenden — Gebrauch von Computern, Fax, E-Mail, CD-ROMs, Chips und Videos. Ich gebrauche ihn, um eine Welt zu kennzeichnen, die Ausdrücke wie Interface-Design, Cyberspace, Cyberlaw, durch virtuelle Realität unterstütztes Lernen, VRA-Chirurgie, Cyber-Feminismus, interaktive Literatur, interaktives Kino, elektronische Bücher und 3D-Konferenzen umfaßt.
