Abstract

In 2011 I was nominated chairman of MUSE, a new and innovative museum of science in Trento-IT; in the paper I briefly describe my experience, of a mathematician, professor of Geometry, in this unusual role; at the same time, I try to give an idea of what MUSE is. The building has been conceived and realized by the architect Renzo Piano and his Italian team. It has been opened on July 2013 and since then it has been visited by more then 500,000 persons every year. Together with the permanent exhibition Muse performs many temporary ones and many short events. I will also report on a temporary exhibition on mathematics, titled MadeinMath, discover the mathematics of the world (2016), in which I participated as a curator.
