Abstract

This chapter will review the growth in the technology innovation literature with specific reference to sport and the process of ideation. This enables more emphasis on the arguments for researching into sport-specific technology innovation by taking a creative approach. In doing so, the chapter will demonstrate the importance and legitimacy of sport technology innovation and contribute to debates concerning the way technology is infiltrating the practice of sport. As there has been an increased interest about technology in sport and how it contributes to a better society, it is important to understand the way ideas are introduced into the marketplace. With the rapid advancement in technology there is also an awareness in the inequalities it produces. This stems from the amount of money sport organizations have to invest in technology innovation in order to be competitive.
