Functorial Properties of Star Operations: New Developments

Abstract

We generalize the definition of a star operation and related notions to rings with zerodivisors and investigate, for any universal star operation ∗, various generalizations of the ∗-linked extensions that yield functoriality of ∗-class groups. These include a generalization of the PDE extensions of a Krull domain that also yields functoriality of divisor class groups.
