Abstract

Zusammenfassung Lineare Gleichlingssysteme nehmen innerhalb der numerischen Mathematik eine zentrale Stellung ein. Einesteils sind sie für viele Probleme aus der Praxis, z. B. die Berechnung von Stabwerken in der Statik, von Schaltkreisen in der Elektrotechnik oder Elektronik oder für Bilanzierungs- und Planungsrechnungen in der Ökonomie, unmittelbar als mathematisches Modell geeignet, andererseits führt die numerische Lösung von zahlreichen angewandten Aufgaben, z. B. Festigkeitsuntersuchungen im Maschinenbau, Straßenbau und Bauwesen oder die Beschreibung physikalischer, chemischer und biologischer Prozesse, über kompliziertere mathematische Modelle letztlich auf lineare Gleichungssysteme zurück. Das gilt für die Linearisierung nicht-linearer Gleichungsyssteme mit Hilfe des Newton-Verfahrens (Kap. 5) ebenso wie für Interpolationsprobleme (Kap. 6), für Quadraturverfahren zur Lösung von Integralgleichungen (Kap. 7) und für Differenzen-, Rayleigh-Ritz-Galerkin- und Finite-Elemente-Methoden zur Lösung von Differentialgleichungsproblemen (Kap. 8).
